A series dedicated to individuals and/or organizations crushing it in their respective industries. In a world in which we are deluged with content of varying quality, these innovators, activists and artists challenge and inspire. What better day to celebrate them (and motivate us) than Monday?
Kicking off this series is Rachel Cargle. who I began following on Instagram last summer. She is an intelligent, energizing and thoughtful writer and speaker, lecturer, student and activist.
Cargle is someone I seek out on Instagram. There is a LOT of discussion in her space. I generally don’t participate but I read and digest. I am ashamed that until recently I was unfamiliar with the terms, let alone their meanings, intersectional feminism, white fragility, spiritual bypassing, cultural appropriation, willful ignorance and so much more. What color are the characters in my daughter’s books? What color are the authors of my daughter’s books? What am I doing to dismantle white supremacy? It’s not enough.
I’m so bummed that her fall tour event in Philadelphia is sold out but Cargle offers a wealth of resources in her Instagram. The below links are not even the tip of the iceberg.
